City Of Yuma, AZ
HOME MenuCode Compliance
The Code Enforcement Division is responsible for enforcing property maintenance codes throughout Yuma, covering both residential and commercial properties. These codes ensure that property owners maintain their premises, helping to protect the health, safety, and welfare of all citizens.
There are many types of City Codes. Code Enforcement plays an active role in enforcing all Zoning Codes and International Building Codes. The purpose of Code Enforcement is to promote pride in our city by preserving property values and keeping our community clean. The Division conducts approximately 1,500 inspections each fiscal year.
How Are Codes Enforced?
The Code Enforcement process is typically initiated in several ways:
- In response to a phone call or written complaint from a citizen.
- Reports from other City departments or outside agencies, such as Animal Control or utility companies.
- Observations made by Code Compliance Specialists during their response to an existing complaint, especially if they identify additional life safety issues.
How do I Notify the City about a Possible Code Violation?
You may inquire about a possible violation or file a complaint about a code violation in person at our office, in writing, by email, by phone, or you can report online by using Yuma Click & Fix. You do not have to identify yourself, however if you choose not to, we might not be able to respond to you with the results of the inquiry. Please be prepared with the following information:
- The address of the property.
- A detailed description of the situation.
