The City of Yuma's Drought Preparedness and Response Plan outlines how the City prepares for, monitors, and responds to drought conditions to ensure a reliable water supply. The plan provides a framework for coordinated decision making, public communication, and water use management during times of water shortage. The plan is reviewed and updated at least every five year, or more frequently if conditions require.

Drought Stages at a Glance

The plan includes four drought stages that may be implemented as conditions change:

Stage 1 - Water Warning: Increased monitoring and voluntary conservation measures
Stage 2 - Water Alert: Expanded voluntary measures and limited mandatory restrictions
Stage 3 - Water Crisis: Mandatory restrictions to reduce non-essential water use
Stage 4 - Water Emergency: Emergency measures to protect essential water needs
