CALL TO ARTIST

Call to Artists: Spark! Places of Innovation

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Monday, February 9, 2026 Spark Logo

NOTIFICATION: Thursday, February 12, 2026

Exhibition Date:
February 20, 2026 - April 4, 2026

OPENING RECEPTION:
Friday, February 20, 2026, from 6pm-8pm

Description:
The Yuma Art Center invites local artists to take part in a special all-media exhibition presented alongside Spark! Places of Innovation, a Smithsonian Institution exhibition. Artists are encouraged to submit work in any medium that celebrates, questions, or reflects the powerful role agriculture plays in everyday life in Yuma. All visual media are welcome, including (but not limited to) ceramic, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, painting, paper, photography, printmaking, and wood.

Presented in conjunction with Spark! Places of Innovation from the Smithsonian, this exhibition shines a spotlight on Yuma, Arizona, the Winter Vegetable Capital of the World. From early-morning harvests and farm labor to innovation, sustainability, and cultural traditions, agriculture touches nearly every part of our community. This open call invites artists to share those stories in creative, personal, and unexpected ways. Selected works will be displayed alongside the Spark! exhibit, creating a lively, community-driven look at how agriculture continues to shape Yuma’s past, present, and future.
