The Yuma Municipal Court is committed to provide the best Customer Service possible. If you are unable to find the information you are looking for in our web page please contact the court, if you are unable to speak with our staff over the telephone, we encourage you to come in person to the court and we will do our best to serve you.

What if I can't make it to the court on my court date? 

You must appear at all court hearings including your arraignment or it may result in a warrant being issued for your arrest and incurring additional charges. If you have civil charges and fail to appear, your driving privileges may be suspended, and you may incur additional fees. You may either file a written motion to continue a court date or come in during the courts' regular business hours.

Can I change my court date? 

Changes of court dates will not be handled over the phone. Please contact the court prior to your court date if you need to reschedule your arraignment. All requests for continuances must be made in writing no later than five days prior to the scheduled hearing. Requests are not granted automatically, it is your responsibility to find out if your request has been granted or not.

How do I find out if there is a warrant for my arrest?

You can contact the court to see if there are any outstanding warrants against you.

What if I have a warrant for my arrest?

If you have a warrant for your arrest, you may post the amount of the bond to quash the warrant and have an arraignment date scheduled. You may also contact the court who can schedule a time for you to see a judge. Only a judge can make the decision of whether you are arrested or not.

How do I find out when I am supposed to appear in court?

Your arraignment court date is listed on your citation or release paperwork. All subsequent court hearings are provided to you in writing at a hearing. If you have any questions about your court date, please contact the court at (928) 373-4800.

When can I see a judge? 

If you wish to speak to a judge about your or someone else’s case, you may only do so at a scheduled hearing, the judges are not allowed to speak to you otherwise. You may write a letter to the judge, but the letter will become part of the court file and will be part of the public record. When submitting correspondence to the court, please include name, date of birth, mailing address, phone number and case or complaint number. Clearly state what is being requested of the court.

I was cited for a criminal offense; how much is the fine?

Criminal offenses in Arizona have different classifications and ranges of penalties. Please refer to the Criminal and Civil Charges section to review this information. You can also call the court at (928) 373-4800.

Why can't I pay on my civil ticket that I received today? 

Please allow at least 10 days from the date the ticket is issued for the officer to file the citation with the court. Please call the court at (928) 373-4800 for specific information.

How do I drop charges against someone?

Only the Prosecutor can request that charges be dropped against someone. You may contact the City Prosecutors Office at (928) 373-5060

What do I need to do to have a record checked? 

Your request must be put into writing and there will be a research fee of $17.00 that will need to be paid before the court can begin the research (A.R.S. 22-404B). The court will then research the court documents/records for your request. Records Request

What is an abstract? 

An abstract is the paperwork the court provides to the Motor Vehicle Department that lifts the request to suspend the driver's license. An abstract is produced when all sanctions/fines/fees are paid in full. Abstracts are valid only from the specific court that requested the hold to be placed on the driver's license. Yuma Municipal Court can only issue an abstract on cases filed in Yuma Municipal Court. You may obtain an abstract from the court to take to MVD for immediate clearance or the court will send an abstract to MVD through our normal course of business.

Where is the court located? 

The Yuma Municipal Court is located at 1515 S. 2nd Avenue.

Our building is behind CHASE Bank 1 block west of 16th Street and 1 block north of 4th Avenue, next door to the Yuma Police Department.
