The Yuma Symposium is a series of demonstrations, lectures and slide presentations given by both internationally recognized and emerging artists who have demonstrated unusual talent. Activities include an exhibit of work by presenters and a student show, the National Saw, File, & Solder Sprints, the annual pin auction, shopping and eating in Algodones, Mexico, and a fiesta and dance on Saturday night.
The Yuma Symposium begins on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019 with registration, a social gathering and the traditional pin swap from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. at Lute’s Casino, 221 S Main Street. Slides and informal introductions of the presenters will follow at 7 pm.

CAMP INFERNO is an adventure immersion program allowing participants to experience a day in the life of elite women in fire and life-safety services. The goal of the program is to afford the opportunity for “real world” experience where young ladies are encouraged to challenge themselves on numerous physical and mental fire-fighter tasks in a controlled setting. Your child’s safety is always our number one priority and we will be taking all necessary precautions to ensure a safe and responsible camp day. In this two-day class, Photographer Ty Cook will teach the 6 points of Photography and help you start taking photos deliberately with your camera. Learn how to use your camera as a tool to get the photo you want. Class will have handouts and slides to teach the fundamentals of ISO, Shutter and Aperture and how those settings will make or break a viable photograph. The next day in the 102 session, you will apply these fundamentals with your camera to increase your confidence in your abilities. Geared towards both Android and iPhone smartphones, in this one session class you can learn to make better photos with the camera you always have with you. Photographer Ty Cook will teach you how to use your smartphone to create photos you will want to share and print. You will learn the fundamentals of photography through the native camera app and some inexpensive apps, learn the basics of controlling light with ISO and shutter speed plus find a new way of seeing the world by learning to watch light and composition.READ MORE
