Run for Judicial Office
At the special election in November 2007 the voters approved the charter change for the qualifications for the position of Presiding Judge as follows:
- At least 30 years of age
- Of good moral character with no felony convictions
- Admitted to the practice of law for (5) years
- Resident of the city for at least five (5) years preceding the day of election or appointment
The chief officer of the Municipal Court is the Presiding Judge. The Municipal Court Judges are elected by the voters of the City of Yuma. Commencing with the elections held in 1973, biennial elections are held every four years and the elections are staggered.
The qualifications for Judge Pro Tempore are the same as for the Presiding Judge. The qualifications for the Municipal Judges other than the Presiding Judge shall be the same with the exception of the law practice.
