About Municipal Court
Municipal Court is a court of limited jurisdiction pursuant to the Charter of the City of Yuma, the Constitution of the State of Arizona and the Constitution of the United States of America. The Court hears misdemeanor criminal cases (including but not limited to driving under the influence and domestic violence cases), criminal and civil traffic violations and all criminal and civil matters related to City Ordinances.
The Court issues civil orders including orders of protection and injunctions against harassment. Court security officers provide security for the Court, serve summons and subpoenas, transport prisoners to and from the Court as necessary, and assist with video court.
The current Municipal Court Judges
Presiding Judge James F. Coil, elected to serve a term beginning January 1, 2018 and ending December 31, 2021
Judge Jeanette Umphress, elected to serve a term beginning January 1, 2012 and ending December 31, 2019
