Second year of combining two annual events; geared to homeowners as well as professionals
Yuma Parks and Recreation and the Sports Turf Managers Association of Arizona invite you to this year’s Sports Turf, Tree & Landscape Expo, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Yuma Civic Center, 1440 W. Desert Hills Drive. For the low registration fee of $10, participants receive instruction, news and knowledge from industry leaders. The event’s famous tri-tip lunch is included.
The Sports Turf, Tree & Landscape Expo – a combination of two events long held annually – provides useful information from professional turf managers to anyone who wants to learn more about the latest technologies and strategies for turf/lawn and tree care.
Concurrent sessions offer seminars on turf planting, proper rose bush pruning, cactus maintenance, tree trimming, weed management, irrigation, equipment and more.
Parks Commissioner Chris Bedinger will present information on Southwest Arizona’s wildlife and venomous critters. Outdoor, hands-on demonstrations include coverage of the best-known graffiti removal products.
Just a few of the participating vendors include Hunter Irrigation, Yuma Nursery and Supply, Simpson Norton, and RDO Equipment.
Registration is $10 per person and includes the event’s famous tri-tip lunch. Advance registration is encouraged. Please call ahead with a credit card to 928-373-5200, or register online at the City’s website, www.yumaaz.gov. On-site registration is available at the door from 7 to 8 a.m. on the day of the event.
Vendor applications are still being accepted at $50 including lunch, one 10-foot by 10-foot space, and one table. Vendors are invited to set up displays of their turf equipment, fertilizer, safety equipment, irrigation supplies, and other related products and equipment, giving everyone an opportunity to see and learn about their products and in some case, try them out. Please register in advance.
Held in conjunction with the expo is the 20th Annual Sports Turf, Tree & Landscape Expo Golf Tournament on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Desert Hills Golf Course. The cost is $50 per player and includes green fee, cart, food, and prizes. To register for the tournament, please call Rich Walton at 373-5209.
