Six bands to battle for cash prize
Battle of the Bands

Six area bands will perform live for a chance to earn audience votes and take home a $5,000 cash prize during a one-night-only event.

Tickets are officially on sale for Battle of the Bands, 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Historic Yuma Theatre, 254 S. Main St. in Yuma. Tickets range from $10 (students, seniors and active military) to $15 general admission and are available at www.YumaShowTickets.com, over the phone at 928-373-5202, or in person at the Yuma Art Center, Yuma Civic Center or the Parks and Recreation office at City Hall.

 

Competing acts include:

  • Moth.
  • The Raging Hyenas.
  • Switchblade Mary.
  • THP.
  • Typha.
  • Venkman’s Ghost.

Yuma’s own Checker’d Past will again serve as the house band and their frontman Mark Flint will serve as the event’s host.

 

Competition and Voting

The winning band will be selected by the people’s choice. Voting begins after the last competing band performs.

There will be two ways of voting for your favorite band.

  • To vote place your ticket in the voting boxes that are located in the theatre lobby.
  • You can also vote on the poll at Facebook.com/YumaArtCenter.

Audience members are encouraged to share the poll and ask friends and family to vote.

The winner will be announced after Checker’d Past closes the concert and the votes have been counted.

The winning band will take home a $5,000 cash prize.
