Online application available for City of Yuma COVID-19 Small Business Grant Relief Program

Applications for the City of Yuma small business grant relief program are being accepted through the website of the Arizona Community Foundation of Yuma.

Yuma small businesses are encouraged to apply if they have been closed by Executive Orders from Gov. Doug Ducey. Grants will be awarded on a continuing basis until funds are depleted.

“On July 15, the Yuma City Council unanimously joined me in approving an allocation of $320,000 from the U.S. Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) funding to directly help aid small businesses in the community,” Mayor Douglas Nicholls stated.

At its Aug. 5 meeting, the Yuma City Council increased the funding for this program an additional $230,000 to make a total of $550,000 available.

Grants range from $1,500 to $10,000 depending on business type. To apply for the grant funding, businesses must be located within Yuma city limits and be listed in one of the five business types described below.

Business Type 1 is eligible for up to a $1,500 relief grant and includes: hair salon and barber shop businesses, massage therapy and nail salon establishments, tubing operating businesses, and water parks.

Business Type 2 is eligible for up to a $2,500 relief grant and includes: restaurants with no indoor nor fully-enclosed dining (as of July 15, 2020), and movie theaters.

Business Type 3 is eligible for up to a $5,000 relief grant and includes: restaurants with indoor or fully-enclosed dining, fitness clubs or indoor gyms with less than 4,500 square ft., as well as fitness centers/studios that provide services for self-defense, dance, Pilates, CrossFit, yoga or gymnastics.

Business Type 4 is eligible for up to a $7,500 relief grant and includes: bars.

Business Type 5 is eligible for up to a $10,000 relief grant and includes: indoor gyms or fitness clubs with more than 4,500 square ft. of space.

Applicants will need to upload their W-9 as part of the online applicant process.  Additional requirements are listed on the online application, available at azfoundation.org/Give-Where-You-Live/Yuma.
