Household Hazardous Waste day set for Saturday, Oct. 8
Drop-off site: Yuma North Public Works Yard, 265 W. 13th Street
YUMA, Ariz. – The City of Yuma will host a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) day from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 8, in an effort to help Yuma residents safely dispose of household hazardous waste and E-waste products. HHW products are defined as unwanted corrosive flammable, toxic or reactive materials used in homes, cars/trucks, gardens and lawns.
Beginning at 8 a.m., residents may drop off their unwanted items at the Yuma North Public Works Yard, located at 265 W. 13th Street, between 4th Avenue and 1st Avenue.
The following items will be accepted at the HHW collection event:
- ?Motor oil
- Household cleaners
- Tires (limit of five; must be off the wheel)
No business/commercial waste, ammunition, pressurized gas, radioactive waste, prescription drugs, or needles will be accepted.
E-waste items for drop-off include:
• Home computer components
• TV sets
• VCRs/DVD players
• Cell phones
• Home phones
Residents may bring the following household items to the drop-off site to be recycled:
- Aluminum cans
- Cardboard material
- Paper documents
Recycling bins are available year-round for all Yuma County residents to drop off aluminum cans, metal items, cardboard material, paper and clear plastic. The bins are located at 13th Street at 2nd Avenue and are open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
Future HHW collection dates and locations will be announced once they are set.
