City to hold open house, truck display at Main Street plant
open house of Main Street Water Treatment Facility

The City of Yuma Utilities Department presents the annual Main Street Water Treatment Facility Open House and Touch-a-Truck Event, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at 175 N. Main St. The event is free to attend.

The Touch-a-Truck event will be held outside the plant on the north end of Main Street. This is an interactive event that offers children of all ages a hands-on opportunity to explore a variety of heavy machinery and meet the people who provide and maintain the water services in the City of Yuma.

The exhibit will offer visitors a chance to touch and interact with the equipment the City’s Utilities department uses every day: Backhoes, utility line trucks, crane trucks, and the unique truck that serves as a rooter, power sprayer and vacuum for cleaning city sewer lines. Visitors are invited to get a rare chance at a close look at this and other city equipment.

The water treatment plant’s staff will be providing tours of the drinking water plant and explaining how the City's drinking water is treated.

The Main Street Water Treatment Facility is the City of Yuma’s largest water treatment facility, capable of producing 40 million gallons of water a day.

This event coincides with day two of the inaugural BBQ and Brew Festival, taking place 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. along Main Street.
