YUMA, Ariz. – The City of Yuma is proud to announce Sylvia Chappell, legal assistant for the City Attorney's Office, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for Administrative Professionals by the Arizona Prosecuting Attorneys' Advisory Council (APAAC).
Chappell is in her 18th year as a legal assistant. She is responsible for daily operations in the City prosecutor’s office, which processes an average of more than 4,300 cases annually. Additionally, Chappell provides legal aid services to the City's two prosecuting attorneys. Her tasks range from interacting with victims to evidence reporting.
"Employees like Sylvia do so much to keep the City of Yuma running smoothly," said City Attorney Richard Files. "This statewide award is an honor and a tribute to Sylvia’s years of public service in the interest of justice and victim advocacy."
Chappell was awarded at the APAAC's annual conference on Aug. 23, 2019. She was one of 10 nominees from throughout the state.
