16th Street, Pacific Ave.
UPDATE: A northbound lane on Pacific Avenue just south of 16th Street will be closed beginning Monday, Jan. 11, for the construction of the second entrance to the Gomez Plaza near the intersection of Pacific Avenue and 16th Street. Work is expected to take no longer a week to complete. This is part of the Gomez Plaza construction project that includes a right turn lane from Sunridge Drive to 16th Street and a right turn lane from 16th Street into Gomez Plaza near the 16th Street and Pacific Avenue intersection.
Avenue 4E, north of 32nd St.
Avenue 4E just north of 32nd Street is expected to reopen Jan. 19 upon the completion of a project to fix pavement conditions. Prior to its reopening, motorists should detour using Avenue 5E to 30th Place. A small section of Avenue 4E remained open to provide access to the business at the northeast corner of Avenue 4E and 32nd Street.
5th Ave., 17-18th streets
Crews will be drilling along a portion of the 5th Avenue roadway, between 17th and 18th streets, as part of a project that is expected to take place between Jan. 20 and Jan. 25. Work will only be done during daylight hours and signs will be posted to alert drivers to the work zones. During the project, traffic cones will also be placed along that section of 5th Avenue to direct drivers.
3rd Street, near 4th Avenue
A project to place new fiber for a hotel off of 3rd Street near 4th Avenue will require a lane closure along a small section 3rd Street as crews dig a trench in the area to place the fiber. Signs will be posted to alert drivers of the lane closure. The project is expected to be completed by the end of January.
2nd Avenue, near 2nd Street
A project to install a new sewer line at a location on 2nd Avenue near 2nd Street is scheduled to take place the week of Jan. 4-8. The project will require a portion of 2nd Avenue to be closed to through traffic, between 2nd Street and 3rd Street. Additionally, part of 1st Street will be closed from 1st Avenue to 2nd Avenue. Signs will be posted in the area to alert drivers of detours and work zones.
13th Avenue, near 1st Street
Crews will be installing a new gas service line for a residence on 13th Avenue, between Colorado Street and 1st Street. The project is to take one day to complete and will begin sometime between December and the end of February. While crews are working, a portion of 13th Avenue between 1st Street and Colorado Street will be reduced to just one lane in each direction.
4th Avenue, near 26th St.
Crews will be replacing a sidewalk and digging a trench to place new fiber at a location off of 4th Avenue, near 26th Street. This will require a 4th Avenue lane closure, sidewalk closures and reduced speed limits in the area. Signs will be posted to alert drivers to the reduced speed limit and to direct traffic along 4th Avenue near to keep to their left as they near the intersection. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of Feb. 2016.
Avenue B, 7th Street
APS will be installing a new pole and an overhead conductor for a location near Avenue B and 7th Street. The project will take a total of two days and is slated to be completed by the first day of the new year. As crews work to install the new pole and conductor, reduced speed limits will be enforced in the area. There will also be a lane closure on Avenue B.
16th Street, 4th Avenue
Crews will be doing night road work to remove overhead cables near 16th Street and 4th Avenue for a total of two days. The project will require detours and road closures in the area, including closures on 1st-3rd avenues. Signs will be posted along 16th Street to alert drivers of the reduced speed limits.
32nd Street, 4th Avenue
A Century Link project to replace a sidewalk and install new conduits at the southeast corner of the 32nd Street and 4th Avenue intersection will require a lane closure and reduced speed limit during the five days the project is underway. The project is to be completed by mid-February.
Southgate Mall area
Reconstruction of Southgate Mall property will lead to a number of lane closures and detours in Big Curve/Southgate Mall area over the next several months. Southbound 4th Avenue's right lane will close from Catalina Drive to 4th Avenue Extension, for construction of new turn lane and driveway entrance into Southgate Mall. Then 4th Avenue Extension will be closed between Business Loop 8/4th Avenue and 32nd Street. At one point in the project, the 32nd Street intersection with 4th Avenue Extension will become a 4-way stop. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and to watch for and follow detour signs posted in the project vicinity.
Maiden Lane - downtown
The demolition and refurbishment of the Yuma County building located at 197 S. Main Street is under way over the early autumn months, leading to several road and sidewalk closures in the area throughout the duration of the project. Maiden Lane is closed from 1st to 2nd Street. Some of the downtown parking spaces immediately to the east are also closed. Access to downtown parking east of Main Street should be via Gila Street. Signs are posted to direct drivers to closures and detours.
