Area workers and visitors to the area surrounding Curtis Industrial Park are advised of a potentially lengthy detour put in place for an undetermined amount of time.
Avenue 4E is closed between 32nd Street and 30th Place until further notice due to potentially dangerous pavement conditions. Motorists should detour using Avenue 5E to 30th Place. The City is gathering additional information on the extent of repairs needed; however, there is currently no estimate for when repairs can take place and allow the roadway to reopen.
Members of the City’s Engineering and Public Works departments inspected the location after receiving a call Tuesday morning from a concerned citizen. The inspection revealed fault with the asphalt and its underlying condition, meaning a simple asphalt patch would be insufficient to correct the problem, prompting the decision to close the roadway. The City then notified businesses in the area of the situation.
A small section of Avenue 4E remains open to provide access to the business at the northeast corner of Avenue 4E and 32nd Street.
Future updates will appear on the City of Yuma Road Report, generally posted weekly at www.yumaaz.gov.
