July 21 Primary Election Day approaches

Voters to decide Mayor, City Council, and Presiding Municipal Judge

Post Date:07/13/2026 12:28 PM

The City of Yuma reminds residents that the Primary Election will be held Tuesday, July 21. The ballot includes Mayor, three City Council seats and Presiding Municipal Judge. Whether voting early or in person, here is what City of Yuma voters need to know before casting their ballots.

Under the City Charter, candidates who receive more than 50 percent of all ballots cast in the Primary Election are elected to that office, effective on the date of the General Election. If no candidate receives a majority for a particular office, the top two candidates for each remaining open seat will advance to the General Election on Tuesday, November 3.

Early voting

Early ballot voting is available through Friday, July 17, at the former Board of Supervisors Auditorium (198 S. Main Street). The site is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours until 7 p.m. Friday, July 17.

Voters may also return early ballots at any of the following drop-box locations from now through July 21:

  • Yuma County Recorder’s Office, 298 S. Main Street.
  • Yuma County Main Library, 2951 S. 21st Drive.
