YUMA, Ariz. – The City of Yuma Parks and Recreation Department will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the reopening of the Arroyo Dunes Par 3 on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 9 a.m. at Desert Hills Golf Course (1301 W. 32nd Street). The celebration will also feature a community golf tournament.
The event marks the official return of Arroyo Dunes following a brief closure for irrigation system improvements designed to enhance water conservation and overall playability. The ribbon cutting is open to the public, and no RSVP is required.
Immediately following the ceremony, a Two-Person Scramble Tournament will begin, with check-in at 9:30 a.m. and play starting at 10 a.m. Registration is limited to 36 teams and registration must be completed in advance. Teams may register online here or in person by visiting the Parks and Recreation Department located on the first floor of City Hall (One City Plaza). Registration closes Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
“We’re excited to reopen the Arroyo Dunes Par 3 and return to the course’s original name, Arroyo Dunes,” said Golf Operations Manager Chris Hardy. “Opening the course with a tournament is a great way to showcase the improved playability and the City’s support for the next generation of golfers.”
Proceeds from the tournament will support the City of Yuma’s Jr. Golf programs, which introduce youth to the sport while teaching fundamentals, sportsmanship, and course etiquette.
