YUMA, Ariz. – The City of Yuma Parks and Recreation Department will temporarily close the Valley Aquatic Center (VAC) beginning Monday, November 24, 2025, for a replastering project that will extend the life of the pool and enhance the facility for the community. The work is expected to be completed by mid-February 2026.
During this approximate 12-week closure, the City is committed to ensuring that swimmers and aquatic program participants have access to the activities they rely on. Marcus Pool and Carver Pool will remain open throughout the project, with Marcus Pool serving as the primary location for relocated City programming.
"While the temporary relocation is a short-term inconvenience, it represents a long-term investment in Yuma’s aquatic future and is consistent with what the residents expressed as their top priority in the Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Trails Master Plan; investing in and taking care of what we have,” shared Recreation Manager AJ Mosqueda. “The upgrades at the Valley Aquatic Center will add years of life to a facility that continues to be one of Yuma’s greatest treasures. Our team is proud and excited to keep showcasing the VAC as a year-round hub for fun, fitness, and community connection."
Community members are encouraged to stay connected for updates by following the City of Yuma’s social media platforms or by calling Parks and Recreation at 928-373-5200.
