The Pretreatment Section of the City's Utilities Department is responsible for protecting the wastewater resources of the City, by assisting industrial and commercial facilities to abide by the regulations set up by the City of Yuma, State of Arizona, and Federal Governments.
- Pretreatment Program
This Program regulates the industrial and commercial wastewater discharges into the Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) which includes the wastewater collection system, lift stations and the City's wastewater treatment plants. The Pretreatment Section ensures that the City of Yuma complies with all applicable State and Federal laws, including the Clean Water Act and the Federal Pretreatment Regulations.
- Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) Program
The intent of the FOG program is to reduce the introduction of excessive Fats, Oils, and Greases (FOG) into the sanitary sewer system and the wastewater treatment plants.
