It seems that adding a dog park to the list of Yuma parks is a need and desire of many Yuma dog owners.  In response to those requests, the City of Yuma has been looking at different locations for just the right place to locate a dog park, A dog park is a facility set aside for dogs and their owners to exercise and play off-leash in a controlled environment. A typical dog park is fenced; has separate, double-gated entry and exit points; an area to water dogs; and tools to pick up and dispose of animal wastes.  According to Park and Golf Course Superintendent Damon Chango, “We think we have found a suitable site in two retention basins behind the Wal-Mart on Pacific Avenue and will meet with the Humane Society, Wal-Mart and others to see if this area would meet our needs.”
