The Adult Center was first built in 1976 and has gone through three renovations and many program changes over the past 32 years. Each renovation was done to meet the growing needs of the Yuma community. The Adult Center commonly called the Senior Center was originally built to provide activities for older adults. It has morphed into a multi-generational center that appeals to everyone, young and old. The North End Community Center will be used for City co-sponsored meetings, special events, special needs programming, private rentals and to offer programs to all ages. The renaming of the Adult Center will change the image and perception of the building. There has previously not been a formal naming of the building, the name Adult Center was just assumed and stuck. The new name is all inclusive for all ages and possibly identifies the Center with the location that its in, along with possibly a bit of history. Mayor Larry Nelson, Deputy Mayor Ross Hieb, Councilman Cody Beeson, and Councilman Raul Mendoza assist Parks and Recreation staff unveil the new sign at the rededicated North End Community Center.
