This week's edition of the Yuma Police Department's on-going traffic safety program, Project Drive Safe! will be at the following location:

Dates         9/06/2010 - 9/12/2010
Targeted Roadway: 16th Street
Targeted Intersection: All School Zones
Targeted Violations: Speed, Stop Sign, Turning

Project Drive Safe! Year to Date Citation Statistics as of 8/23/2010: 1779 Citations

Safe Driving Tip: The schools in the Yuma area will resume this week. Be aware of children going to and from school.  The school zone speed limit signs will be in effect and strictly enforced. The 15 mph speed begins at the sign and continues to the far side of the crosswalk for your lane of travel. The current fine for school zone violation is $480.00 plus a $20.00 court processing fee. You are also required to stop for a School Bus stopped while displaying a stop sign and flashing red lights.  You may not over take or pass a School Bus while it is stopped to pick up or drop off children. The fine for this violation is also $480.00 plus a $20.00 court processing fee.  As always Drive Safe!
