The Winter Run Series came to a close with the March On City Finals held on March 26. Approximately 200 runners and walkers turned out for the last race of the season.

Approximately 200 runners and walkers turned out for the March on City Finals 5K and 10K Run event and fun walk on Saturday, March 26.

About the Winter 5K and 10K Run and Fun Walk Series

The March On City Finals was the last event of the 2010-2011 5K/10K Run and Fun Walk Series. We would like to congratulate our Series Champions:

  • 5K Males: Age 9 and under,  Seth Chacon; Age 10-12, Noe Galindo; Age 13-15, Jon Contreras; Age 16-19, Jose Peru; Age 20s, Brian Groth and Francisco Almodova; Age 30s, Jason Swain; Age 40s, Pete Salcedo; Age 50s, Greg Noel O’Donnell; Age 60s, Stanley Matthews; Age 70s, Harlan Webster.
  • 5K Females: Age 9 and under, Rachel Jones-Lord; Age 10-12, Jessica Padilla; Age 13-15, Camille Ochoa; Age 20s, Emily Dolan; Age 30s, Heather Hipp; Age 40s, Nancy Snell; Age 50s, Cookie Wagner; Age 60s, Joyce Jensen; Age 70s, Evelyn Mills.
  • 10K Males: Age 10-12, Austin Blomquist; Age 13-15, Adam Padilla; Age 16-19, Shane Hengesh; Age 20s, Manuel Montes; Age 30s, Marcos Rodriguez; Age 40s, Clay Sharp; Age 50s, Mark Niblack; Age 60s, Don Werley; Age 80s, George West; Age 90 plus, Philip Birdick.
  • 10K Females: Age 10-12, Sabrina Borland; Age 16-19, Nelly Rubio; Age 20s, Kasey Carroll; Age 30s, Tonya Koenig Colsch; Age 40s, Frances Cerka; Age 50s, Sam Tawzer.

Throughout the series, participants have been broken up into male and female categories by age group: 9 and under, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80+. Medallions were awarded to gold, silver and bronze winners in each age group.

Individuals with the highest number of points in each age bracket received a plaque and every fun walker that participated in all five events also received a plaque. At each event the first place finisher received 20 points, second place received 15 points, third place received 10 points and the remaining participants receive five points.

  • Reindeer Round-Up
  • New Year's Resolution Run
  • Great Yuma Road Race
  • March On

Once again congratulations to all of our series champions, as well as every participant in the 2010-115K/10K Run and Fun Walk Series. We look forward to seeing everyone again for the 2011-12 series beginning with the October Moonlight Fun Run Kickoff event on Friday, October 7, 2011. The points will start accumulating in November with the Turkey Trot.
