Area That May Be Affected By Work On 16th Street To Be Checked For Fluctuations
Yuma, Ariz. - Work by ADOT widening 16th Street may affect areas of the City served by the water transmission lines that run under and along 16th Street in the upcoming week, so the City of Yuma Utilities Department is conducting a test of the system on Thursday.
Between approximately 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., the City is scheduled to test the system affecting the area between 5th Street and 16th Street on the north and south, and between Pacific Avenue and Avenue A on the east and west. There is a possibility residents and customers in these areas will notice a decrease in water pressure during this period.
If all goes as expected during the test, the test conditions will be put in place for one week starting Monday, March 22. ADOT's contractor will install a storm line across the street, which will necessitate the closure of the City's water transmission line that accompanies 16th Street.
City of Yuma water customers who live or work in this area and develop a serious water issue may call (928) 373-4500.
The 2010 Census Is Coming...
Did you know that each person living in Yuma who is not counted in the 2010 Census means a loss of $400 per person in state and federal funds for community services such as roads, schools, job training centers, etc.?
Accurate data reflecting changes in our community are crucial in apportioning seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and deciding how more than $400 billion per year is allocated for projects like new hospitals and community centers. That's more than $4 trillion over a 10-year period.
