Accidental Drowning In Salinity Canal

On 03/13/10 at approximately 1444 hours Yuma Police officers responded to the 4th Avenue Bridge in the 100 block of N. 4th Avenue in reference to a report of a possible drowning.

On 03/13/10 at approximately 1444 hours Yuma Police officers responded to the 4th Avenue Bridge in the 100 block of N. 4th Avenue in reference to a report of a possible drowning.   Yuma Fire Department and the Yuma Police Dive Team were called out to conduct a search on the bottom of the Salinity Canal.  Yuma Fire Department deployed a Zodiac boat to assist YPD divers in the search.

At 1905 hours the body of Guy Richard Burns, 48, was located between the first two bridge pylons of the 4th Avenue Bridge over the canal.  Burns was in about 12 feet of water.  The circumstances under which Burns went into the water are still under investigation.
