On Saturday, January 30th, 2010, at about 0937 hrs, Yuma Police Department personnel responded to 8th St./21st Ave. for a report of an injury accident involving a pedestrian.
Preliminary investigation revealed a dark green vehicle struck a 60 year old pedestrian while in the crosswalk on 8th St. The vehicle fled the area prior to police arrival, but was followed by a witness and located shortly after the accident. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and booked into jail for the hit and run accident and driving under the influence of alcohol. The pedestrian was transported to YRMC for non life threatening injuries.
