On Saturday, January 7, 2012 the New Year's Resolution 5K and 10K Run and Fun Walk took place at West Wetlands Park and had a fantastic turnout of over 300 participants.
New Year’s Resolution participants were broken up into male and female categories by age group: 9 and under, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80+. Medallions are awarded to gold, silver and bronze winners in each age group.
About the Winter 5K and 10K Run and Fun Walk Series
At the end of the five-run-series, individuals with the highest number of points in each age bracket (the winner must have participated in more than one race) will receive a plaque and every fun walker that has participated in all five events also receives a plaque. At each event the first place finisher receives 20 points, second place receives 15 points, third place receives 10 points and the remaining participants receive five points.
There are two races remaining in the Winter 5K and 10K Run and Fun Walk Series.
- Great Yuma Road Race - Saturday, February 11 at 8:15 a.m. 15th St. and 4th Ave.
Pre-registration is $12 and on-site registration beginning at 7:15 is $16 - March On City Finals - Saturday, March 10 at 8:30 a.m. West Wetlands
Pre-registration is $8 and on-site registration beginning at 7:30 is $14
