Resolution for Safety
The Yuma Fire Department responded to more than 11,000 emergency calls for service during 2009. Many of these calls were for preventable accidents and injuries. Make a “Resolution for Safety” and think about what you can do to make 2010 a safer year for you and your family. Preventable injuries can occur anywhere and are that much more tragic, because they could have been avoided!
Here are a few safety resolutions to consider for 2010!
- Being patient can help keep you from BEING A PATIENT!!!! Allowing extra time when driving, and planning your route to avoid congestion, can help you avoid traffic crashes and injuries.
- Avoid leaving cooking food unattended, keeping matches and lighters out of reach of children, and never leaving an unattended candle burning, are just three of many ways to reduce your fire risk at home. In 2009, children as young as 3 years old were the causes of fires resulting in damage to homes and even the deaths of family pets..
- Learn CPR and Basic First Aid, prepare a 72-hour emergency kit, have (and practice!) emergency plans in your home or at work. These can all better prepare you should a personal, family, or community emergency or disaster occur.
The Yuma Fire Department wants you to have a safe and Happy New Year!!!!!!
