The Yuma Police Department selected three families to adopt for Christmas. The families were chosen by recommendations from non-profit agencies and the officers.

On 12/23/09 Yuma Police Officers delivered Christmas cheer to the three families again. Santa Claus presented gifts to each child as well as dinners for each family. Starbucks provided coffee and hot cocoa for all the participants.

The smiles on the faces of the children made it evident that this was a worthwhile project and their Christmas was made special by the efforts of those involved.

Chief Jerry Geier said, "Assisting families on the holidays has been a Yuma Police Department tradition over the years. It is wonderful to see the smiles on the faces of the families as they receive their donations."

This project was made successful by the generosity of not only the officers involved but also the following businesses and individuals who contributed.

  • J C Penney's
  • Walmart
  • Rosa & Company Beauty Works
  • TRS Home Furnishings
  • Bed, Bath and Beyond
  • Applebee's
