Bark Park Rules and Tips

This week's Bark Park rule reminder - There is a limit of only two dogs per handler.  This is an important safety rule to protect dogs as well as humans.  It becomes very difficult to watch over and control more than two dogs during a visit to the Bark Park.

Barking should be kept to a reasonable level, both for the comfort of other park users as well as nearby neighbors.  Occasional barks of joy are acceptable.  Non-stop barking is not.

The Bark Park is there for the health and enjoyment of the Yuma community and their dogs.  Unlike the other parks in Yuma, the Bark Park has some unique rules that must be followed to ensure everyone's safety and maximize enjoyment.

The Bark Park is located at 1705 E. Palo Verde Street in Yuma and is open Wednesdays through Mondays from dawn until 9 p.m..  The park is closed on Tuesdays for maintenance.

Driving on roadways under construction can be confusing and time consuming due to restricted driving lanes, speed limits, and turning restrictions.  When driving in a construction zone, be sure to observe all posted traffic control devices.  Plan ahead if a construction zone is in your daily driving route.  Leave earlier and prepare for detours from your normal driving route, or take a completely different route to avoid the construction zone.

Driving restrictions in construction zones are in place for the safety of workers, pedestrians and drivers.  Remember to follow all lane, speed and turning restrictions, as they are enforceable traffic violations.

During 2007 in Arizona there were over 378,000 people involved in traffic collisions. Of those people, over 323,000 or about 86% were known to be wearing seat belts. Of the people wearing seat belts, less than 1/10th of 1 percent were killed and less than 15 percent were injured.[1] These statistics demonstrate that seat belts do save lives. The Yuma Police Department encourages all motorists to do their part by buckling up and as always always remember to Drive Safe!

The 2010 Census Is Coming...

Did you know that each person living in Yuma who is not counted in the 2010 Census means a loss of $400 per person in state and federal funds for community services such as roads, schools, job training centers, etc.?

Accurate data reflecting changes in our community are crucial in apportioning seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and deciding how more than $400 billion per year is allocated for projects like new hospitals and community centers. That's more than $4 trillion over a 10-year period.

Stay tuned for more Census 2010 information.
