On Sunday November 29, 2009 shortly after 7:00 pm, a fire was reported in the 4400 block of South 4th Ave. Arriving Yuma Fire Department personnel found flames and smoke coming from the roof of a travel trailer at 4491 S. 4th Ave, and quickly extinguished the blaze. No other property was damaged.
A male occupant inside the trailer noticed flames outside the window, and went to investigate. At that time, he found flames coming from the south side of his trailer. He attempted to extinguish the fire and was unsuccessful. The occupant went back inside and saw smoke, so he evacuated. He was treated at the scene and transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center as a precaution for possible smoke inhalation.
The fire was determined to have originated at the back of the travel trailer’s refrigerator.
