Robbery At South 4th Avenue Chevron

On Monday, November 30, 2009 at 10:23 am, Yuma Police Officers responded to the Chevron at 1825 South 4th Avenue in reference to a panic alarm.

The investigation revealed the suspect, later identified as Joe Miranda Martinez, 47 years old of Yuma, entered the store and physically restrained the female clerk.  Martinez stole and undisclosed amount of money and fled in a nearby parked vehicle.  An attentive witness provided the license plate number of the vehicle. The female clerk suffered minor injuries.

Martinez was located by Yuma Police Detectives about twenty minutes after the crime in the 900 block South 1st Avenue. Martinez was detained and will later be booked into the Yuma County Detention Center for robbery and other related charges.
