Police K-9, Rudy Dies

It is with deep regret the Yuma Police Department informs the Yuma Community of the death of one of their Drug Detection K-9’s.

Canine, Rudy was found deceased this morning in his kennel. He was taken to a local veterinarian clinic where an examination and other tests will be performed to determine a cause of death. No foul play or negligence is suspected.

Rudy has been with the Yuma Police Department since February of 2003. He was the third K-9 to join the ranks of the Yuma Police Department K-9 Unit. Rudy is currently partnered with Detective Shawn Bledsoe and had been since August 2005.

Rudy was an integral part of the K-9 Unit and the Yuma Police Department. He served the Yuma Community well and was highly devoted to his handler and partner, Detective Bledsoe. Rudy will be greatly missed by all.
