On Sunday, November 15, 2009 at approximately 12:35 pm, a fire was reported in the 400 block of South 14th Avenue. Arriving Yuma Fire Department units found smoke and flames coming from behind a residence at 1395 W. 4th Street. A fire was located in 2 storage sheds, a pickup truck, a travel trailer, and an ATV at the rear of the residence.

Firefighters were challenged by high winds and electrical lines down in the fire area. Power was turned off, and the fire was quickly extinguished. The storage sheds and vehicles were heavily damaged.  The fire was extinguished before it could damage the residence and surrounding homes.

The fire was first discovered when a driver was passing by the area, and stopped to alert the homeowner of smoke and flames coming from the back yard area. One resident was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were sustained.

Fire investigators were called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
