On Tuesday, 11/10/09, at approximately 11 PM, an assault occurred in the area of 28th Street and 8th Avenue.
Patrick Smith (50) of Yuma, became involved in an altercation with three subjects in a passing vehicle. All three occupants in the vehicle assaulted Smith. Smith was later transported to YRMC and treated for two stab wounds on his back. His condition as of 11/11/09 was stable.
Two of the three occupants and the vehicle were located later by YPD officers. Sophia Jiminez (20) was arrested for attempted homicide and assault. Daniel Rivera-Fonseca (20) was also arrested for assault. Both were booked into the Yuma County Detention Facility. The third suspect is a Hispanic female in her early 20’s and is currently being sought for questioning.
