Bark Park Rules and Tips

This week's Bark Park rule reminder - This week's Bark Park etiquette tip: Not all dogs are suited for visits to the Bark Park. Know your dog. If he or she has behavior problems as they relate to humans or other dogs, please do not bring them to the dog park. Dogs that are friendly, confident, social, and outgoing are good dog park dogs. Dogs that are overbearing, obnoxious, fearful, aggressive, or reactive should NOT be taken to the Bark Park.

There are several resources in our community for dog behavior modification work and training. Contact our veterinarian for information.

The Bark Park is there for the health and enjoyment of the Yuma community and their dogs. Unlike the other parks in Yuma, the Bark Park has some unique rules that must be followed to ensure everyone's safety and maximize enjoyment.

The Bark Park is located at 1705 E. Palo Verde Street in Yuma and is open Wednesdays through Mondays from dawn until 9 p.m.. The park is closed on Tuesdays for maintenance.

Driving on roadways under construction can be confusing and time consuming due to restricted driving lanes, speed limits, and turning restrictions. When driving in a construction zone, be sure to observe all posted traffic control devices. Plan ahead if a construction zone is in your daily driving route. Leave earlier and prepare for detours from your normal driving route, or take a completely different route to avoid the construction zone.

Driving restrictions in construction zones are in place for the safety of workers, pedestrians and drivers. Remember to follow all lane, speed and turning restrictions, as they are enforceable traffic violations.

And always remember to Drive Safe!

Many of this week's emergency responses were to motor vehicle crashes. More vehicles are using our streets this time of year and motorists need to take that into consideration. There is also a substantial amount of roadwork currently underway. Although construction in the long run will be helping the traffic situation, right now it does add to congestion. We all need to be patient, use caution, and follow these simple suggestions:

  • Consider your driving time; leave early so you don't have to rush to get to your destination.
  • Plan your route to avoid congestion.
  • Drive defensively, and be aware of what is going on around you.
  • Avoid distractions such as talking on cell phones, texting, holding drinks, adjusting radios and eating while in traffic.
  • Make use of your safety devices, wear your seat belts and be sure children are using proper safety restraints too.
  • Be alert to the lights and sirens of responding emergency vehicles, and properly yield to them by pulling over as far as practical to the right, coming to a complete stop, and waiting until they have passed by before safely resuming your travel.
