On Wednesday, November 4, 2009, Kofa High School officials contacted the Yuma Police School Resource Officer in reference to a possible fraudulent student.
The initial investigation revealed that Anthony M. Avalos, 22 years old of Yuma, was fraudulently attending Kofa High School and Vista Alternative School intermittently since September 2008. It was also determined Avalos committed sexual conduct with a minor during this time period. Avalos was interviewed and was arrested for the forgery and sexual conduct with a minor.
Yuma Union High School District #70 is fully cooperating with this active investigation.
