Adult Posing as a High School Student Arrested

On Wednesday, November 4, 2009, Kofa High School officials contacted the Yuma Police School Resource Officer in reference to a possible fraudulent student.

On Wednesday, November 4, 2009, Kofa High School officials contacted the Yuma Police School Resource Officer in reference to a possible fraudulent student.

The initial investigation revealed that Anthony M. Avalos, 22 years old of Yuma, was fraudulently attending Kofa High School and Vista Alternative School intermittently since September 2008. It was also determined Avalos committed sexual conduct with a minor during this time period. Avalos was interviewed and was arrested for the forgery and sexual conduct with a minor.

Yuma Union High School District #70 is fully cooperating with this active investigation.

The Yuma Police Department encourages anybody with any information about this investigation to please call (928) 373-4700 or 78-Crime to remain anonymous.
