7,433 Ballots Processed

Yuma, Arizona - The City of Yuma held its general election Tuesday, Nov. 3, where voters set out to elect a Mayor and three seats on the City Council.

Polls closed at 7 p.m.  The current count reflects 7,433 ballots cast, including early ballots that have been processed and counted and results from all of the 16 precincts.

This is the last total that will be released this evening.  Remaining to be counted are approximately 840 ballots, which include "late early" ballots, provisional ballots and conditional provisional ballots. Also, there are 133 write-in votes to be processed.  These votes are hand-tallied and verified and will be released along with the late earlies and provisionals.  The deadline for ID verification on provisionals is 5 p.m. Friday at the Yuma County Recorder's Office, after which the final totals are expected to be released.

Percentages reflect a percentage of the total number of ballots cast, rather than a percentage of the total number of votes cast, because Yuma City Council seats are considered at-large, and each ballot may contain up to three votes for members of the City Council.

The election results will not be considered official until they have been canvassed by the Yuma City Council, most likely at its regularly scheduled Nov. 18 meeting.
