City To Participate In 8th Annual Recognition Event
Yuma, Arizona - Mayor Larry Nelson today announced that the City of Yuma will join municipalities across the state of Arizona and take part in the League of Arizona Cities & Towns' eighth annual Cities & Towns Week on October 19-23, 2009. The entire Yuma community is encouraged to learn about the quality services and programs provided by the City of Yuma during this week dedicated to recognition of Arizona's cities and towns. "This week is about recognizing the services and programs that offers to improve the quality of life for our residents", said Mayor Nelson.
"Our City of Yuma employees work around the clock to provide vital services to make Yuma a safe and exceptional place to live, work and play," said Nelson. When everything works well, no one thinks about the services we provide. When your trash is collected, when you turn on your faucet and water comes out, enjoy a picnic in the park, or when you flush your toilet, no one thinks about the municipal employees that make that happen. Participating in Cities & Towns Week offers our Yuma community an important opportunity to join together with other cities and towns across the state to highlight local government's essential contribution to our citizen's daily lives."
The City of Yuma will be offering orientation tours of City Hall to anyone interested on the second Tuesday of each month from now through March. Tours will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the main lobby of One City Plaza and will last approximately 90 minutes.
Cities & Towns Week is set aside each year to provide citizens with important information about the services and programs provided by their city/town, and to introduce the employees that deliver them.
