Yuma, Arizona - The City of Yuma is working on its plan for invigorating Yuma's historic downtown, and it wants your thoughts and ideas.

Members of the public are invited to participate in an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, in Room 190 of Yuma City Hall, One City Plaza (located at 3rd Street between 1st and Madison avenues).

The City of Yuma Planning Department is hosting this public meeting regarding a revitalization plan for Historic Downtown Yuma, just one step in an ongoing, 10-month process.

The City of Yuma is hoping to gain feedback from the community on key values identified by staff, as well as seeking new ideas from community members. From there, City staff members in formulating both a vision and ways to achieve that vision.

The open house will host a briefing of the proposed project, as well as how this project relates to the existing redevelopment efforts in the North End. "The proposed development of a special revitalization plan will compliment the existing Riverfront Redevelopment Plan," said Doug Thomsen, Assistant Planner with the City of Yuma.

"We recognize the most successful project will incorporate a broad spectrum of input and ideas from a diverse, well-informed group," said Thomsen.  "Please join us for the meeting."

This planning effort is the result of a federal National Parks Service grant distributed through Arizona State Parks.
