We want to know what dreams and possibilities you have for the Yuma of tomorrow. What addition to our community would make it the best place to live? What futuristic concept could make us the most energy efficient? What would make Yuma the place to raise our kids and be able to keep them here after college? What would make Yuma the hidden oasis in the desert? What visual, social, physical, cultural or intellectual addition would really make a positive difference in Yuma? Give us your dreams!!

Here are a few of the latest dreams. Is your dream here?

I'm Dreaming of a Yuma...

  • Rehabilitates our under-developed neighborhoods in a calculated and deliberate manner via a process to engage greater community participation from such communities.
  • Encourages infill development with incentives which "brighten" each and every proposal or area that could be enhanced with CDBG or other funding sources to raise our hopes and dreams of a better quality of life in each area/neighborhood.
  • Provides unique opportunities which enhance the Yuma recreational opportunities for indoor and outdoor venues which are not found presently.
  • Mobilizes resources to engage and promote better ways and means to enhance the area(s) stretching from the border to the County line(s).
  • Builds on our strengths and supports eliminating the weaknesses that will make our community an outstanding place.
  • Widening our streets will help our circulation; however, the surrounding areas should be enhanced to provide for more shade along our walkways with a pedestrian feel of comfort and safety.
  • Connecting appropriate pedestrian and bicycle links between neighborhoods to strengthen community shared interests and alternative accessibility.
  • Infill development should embrace the needs of protecting appropriate buffer areas from conflicting intensive activities.  Many of these ideas are well-intended; however; community input is crucial.
