The City of Yuma has issued a Call to Artists to solicit sculptors to participate in the annual Art on Main outdoor public art exhibit. Selected works will be on exhibit in Historic Downtown Yuma on Main Street from April 2009 through March 2010.
Interested artists must submit an application along with three high quality photographs of each work to The Yuma Art Center, 254 S. Main Street, Yuma, AZ 85364 by March 6, 2009. Several works will be selected by a jury panel in early March and sculptures will be installed by the artists and The Yuma Art Center staff in early April. A formal artist reception follows Saturday, April 18th during the 2009 ARTbeat 2 event in Historic Downtown Yuma. Artists may submit multiple pieces.
"We have many talented artists in our community and we'd like to showcase their work for residents and visitors to experience, enjoy, and possibly purchase," said Rex Ijams, Arts and Culture Manager for The Yuma Art Center. "The Art on Main exhibit is an opportunity to do that." A brochure with photos and information about the artists will accompany the exhibit.
Art on Main is sponsored by the Arizona Commission on the Arts and the City of Yuma Arts & Culture Commission.
