Yuma, Arizona — One City of Yuma issue was on the general election ballot, Proposition 400, which pertains to the possibility of a multi-purpose events center in Yuma. Here are the vote totals as of 1:20 a.m. MST.
With all 27 precincts reporting, and with “late early” and provisional ballots still to be counted, Proposition 400 has received 8,934 votes against the measure and 7,638 votes in favor, trailing by a margin of 53.9 percent to 46.1 percent.
It is unknown how many of the remaining “late early” ballots are from within the city limits. If the final results reflect the trend that has been established throughout the evening, it is expected the measure will fail.
“Our residents have spoken. The majority have told us they don’t want us to move forward with this project. It is time to move on and focus on the future of our community,” said Greg Hyland, Director of Communications and Public Affairs for the City of Yuma.
