Update Fatality Accident at 16th Street and Avenue B

On Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 6:52 am, the Yuma Police Department responded to an injury accident at 16th Street and Avenue B.

On Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 6:52 am, the Yuma Police Department responded to an injury accident at 16th Street and Avenue B.

The investigation revealed Rodney Duran, 55 years old of Yuma was driving his 2004 Harley Davidson Motorcycle northbound on Avenue B approaching the 16th Street intersection. Deanna Leinenger, 45 years old Yuma was driving a 1992 Buick passenger car was on southbound on Avenue B attempt to turn left (east) onto 16th Street. Duran and Leinenger collided in the intersection. Duran was pronounced dead at the scene.

Leinenger was transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center for minor injuries. The case remains under investigation; however alcohol is not a factor.

16th Street and Avenue B was closed for about 2 ½ hours, but is no open to traffic.

Anyone that witnessed the collision is asked to contact the Yuma Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit at (928) 373-4700 or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous.
