Tree & Landscape Expo
The 2008 Yuma Tree and Landscape Expo is set for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Yuma Civic Center, 1440 W. Desert Hills Drive. This event provides quality educational seminars to professionals and do-it-yourselfers in the areas of arboriculture, landscape design, construction, maintenance and outdoor living.
This year’s expo features an all-new program, with new presenters and topics, plus a trade show, the Tree Kids Program for ages 4-12 (who are free with a paid adult) and the optional (but delicious) tri-tip lunch, for which advance ticket purchase is requested. Tickets are $5 for admission plus lunch. Tickets for admission only are $2 each and can be purchased at the door of the Civic Center the day of the event.
Topics to be covered include tree care, turf, native plants, palm tree care, plant selection, citrus, insect pests, wildlife habitat and more. Participants can choose which class(es) to attend.
The trade show allows visitors to explore possibilities in the areas of construction materials, plants, landscape contractors, outdoor living and more.
Children’s Festival of the Arts
The 15th annual Children’s Festival of the Arts will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 on Main Street in Historic Downtown Yuma. The event and all activities are FREE to the public. This popular special event will give children and adults alike an opportunity to “Experience the Magic of Art” by offering a variety of creative experiences – visual and performing. There will be lots of fun, hands-on arts activities and projects for children of all ages as well as continuous live entertainment throughout the day by local and visiting performing artists. Schools throughout Yuma County have been invited to submit outstanding artwork by their students for the Student Art Exhibition which will be displayed in the Yuma Art Center Galleries.
In keeping with the overall ongoing vision of Children’s Festival of the Arts – Art Brings Us Together, event organizers expect the public will leave the festival with a greater appreciation for the arts and how significantly they enrich our lives.

Graffiti Hot Line
Please consider storing the Graffiti Hot Line, (928) 329-2828, on your mobile phone, then call it every time you notice graffiti in our area. All you need to provide is the specific location, and it takes just a few short moments. The Graffiti Busters trailer crew usually has the mess cleaned up in a day or two and turns evidence over to police. Help keep our community clean!
