Hey! What a Deal! You don’t have to break your piggy bank to enjoy some great Parks and Recreation activities. Some are free and some are "almost free." Many of these activities are for the whole family to enjoy together.

Pink piggy bank.Hey!  What a Deal!  You don’t have to break your piggy bank to enjoy some great Parks and Recreation activities.  Some are free and some are “almost free”.  Many of these activities are for the whole family to enjoy together.  Details for most of these programs can be found in “The Fun Starts Here.”

 

It's Free!

  • Hang Time
    June 2 thru August 8, 1 p.m. to 4p.m., Kids age 6-12, Arts, Foosball, Pool, Crafts, Board Games and more at John Morris Cottage, 5th Street and 13th Avenue.
  • Free Open Swim
    Mondays, June 11 thru July 30 from 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Marcus Pool.  Co-sponsored by the Arizona Physicians IPA.
  • Friday Movie
    July 11 at 7 p.m., “Horton Hears a Who”, Yuma Civic Center.  Cosponsored by Kool Smiles.
  • Scorpions Baseball Parks and Recreation Night
    August 1 at 7:05 p.m., 500 Free Tickets available at the Parks and Recreation Main Office.  Tickets are first come-first serve with an eight ticket limit per family.
  • Lunchtime Lectures at the Yuma Art Center
    Bring your own lunch to the Art Center and enjoy a different speaker each time; 12:00 noon to 1 p.m. Friday, July 18, Friday August 1, and Friday, August 15
  • Teen Swim Nights
    Thursdays thru August 14, 8 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  Ages 13- 18 only. $1 per person at Kennedy Pool.

Not Free, But Still Some Great Deals …

  • Teen Late Night "Pick Up" Basketball - $1 per person
    Held at Joe Henry Optimist Center. Offered Friday nights throughout the summer for teens ages 13-18 only.
  • Beat The Heat – Family Night at the Pool – Regular fees apply.
    Fridays thru August 1, 6:15 p.m. thru 7:45 p.m. at Kennedy Pool.  These evenings set aside for families; children under 17 must be accompanied by a parent.
  • Be Safe!  Swim with a Friend  Kids 2/$50¢
    Swim with a friend Tuesdays and Thursdays at Marcus Pool.  Pay the regular fee and your friend gets in free.
  • Swimming - Marcus Pool $50¢ for kids; $1.50 for adults. 
  • Family Dive-In Movie Nights - $1per person
    Marcus Pool, 8:30 p.m.  Wednesdays, June 11, June 25, July 9 and July 23.Watch a movie on a big screen while you swim. 
  • Dog Day of Summer - $1 per person
    Saturday, October 4, Kennedy Pool; one dog per person.
  • Open Swim - Kids $1 at Kennedy Pool; 50¢ at Marcus Pool.
  • Senior Pool Shooting - $1 daily fee
    North End Community Center, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
  • Senior Ballroom Dancing - $2 per person
    North end Community Center, Wednesdays, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Poetry Readings - $2 per person
    Art Center “Open Mic” poetry evenings are July 9, August 12, September 1, and October 8, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Historic Yuma Theatre.
  • Bucket of Balls - just $5
    Desert Hills Golf Course driving range; a bucket is still just $5.
