Description
The City of Yuma will be holding its 3rd Open House on the 2012 General Plan Update and City residents will have their next opportunity to comment and provide input regarding the update to the City of Yuma General Plan.
The General Plan must be updated and approved by voters every 10 years. City of Yuma voters and the Yuma City Council last approved the General Plan in 2002 and the City has been in the process of preparing an update that would go before voters again in the fall of 2012.
Yuma residents are invited to participate in the decennial update by attending Wednesday's open house, to learn about the current General Plan, provide comments on the 2012 draft and hear about the new requirements and policy direction being considered.
During the open house, City staff will have information and map boards illustrating various elements of the draft 2012 General Plan, including transportation, land use, parks and public safety. These will be set up in stations so people can walk around the room and directly discuss the different elements with staff.
About the 2012 General Plan
The General Plan is a policy document and guide to where Yuma wants to be in the future. It provides comprehensive direction for the growth and development of the City of Yuma. The plan is intended to be both long range and visionary and to provide guidance for actions to be taken in the next ten to twenty years. Learn more about the General Plan...
