YUMA, Ariz. - Yuma Mayor Douglas J. Nicholls will host an Economic Development Summit for mayors, officials, and private/public sector leaders from both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border in the 4FrontED megaregion on Thursday, Mar. 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hilton Pivot Point in Yuma. The event will start at 10 a.m. with a welcoming by the mayor and a recognition of dignitaries, then will go into breakout sessions to collaboratively talk about economic development, tourism and education (how higher education collaboration can boost the industries in the megaregion). At noon, Summit attendees will have lunch with a special keynote speech by Paul Brierly, Executive Director of the Yuma Center of Excellence in Desert Agriculture.
After lunch, the groups will reconvene in the three tracks to talk about possible strategies for future collaboration. A press conference will be held at 3:30 p.m. and the event will end at 4 p.m.
