Yuma Mayor Douglas Nicholls and other area mayors of the 4FrontED region will be hosting the 2nd Annual Mayors’ Binational Bicycle Ride, showcasing the diverse binational region we live in.
The ride starts at 8 a.m. at the Civic Center in Yuma (with on-site registration and bib pick-up starting at 7a.m.) From the Civic Center, riders will head northbound on Avenue A, westbound on 32nd Street, and southbound on Avenue B toward Somerton. From Somerton, participants will ride through San Luis, Ariz., and into San Luis Rio Colorado in Mexico. The event will finish in “El Bosque” in San Luis Rio Colorado with a short brief celebration with the mayors. The ride is a little more than 23 miles long.
Last year, more than 150 people from the area communities and beyond joined Mayor Nicholls’ and the area mayors in the first-ever binational bicycle ride. Participants ride at their own risk and are to bring their own bicycle, helmet and passport if they plan to cross the border.
Pre-registration will be available either in person at each of the cities/towns in the region, or digitally. The link to do so will be announced as soon as it is available.
