The City of Yuma held its primary election Tuesday, Aug. 25, where voters had three ballot choices and four write-in choices for three at-large seats on the City Council, plus one seat for Municipal Court Judge.  These are the final, unofficial results. Results will become official once canvassed by the City Council.

The City and its partners are now seeking qualifying homes to be painted during the 2015 Rock & Roll Paint-A-Thon, the City's annual National Make A Difference Day project. Teams of volunteers will prepare the qualifying homes this coming Oct. 17, then will return to paint Oct. 24.

With the Aug. 25 primary election looming, voters are reminded to return early ballots or set aside time that day to vote at any one of the three vote centers. Additionally, early voting may be done in person from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday, Aug. 23, at the office of the Yuma County Recorder, 410 S. Maiden Lane (south side of Giss Parkway).

The City of Yuma was pleased to learn this week that it has been awarded a grant to support the mobile data sharing efforts of the Yuma Police Department and other public safety agencies – efforts that enhance those agencies abilities to fight crime while improving officer safety. The City of Yuma Police Department requested the funding to help pay for air card airtime charges and Internet access for virtual private network communications with mobile data computers.
